San Antonio’s own living legacy, Chayito Champion has graced the world with her immense talent and soulful voice. “A haunting voice and mesmerizing presence” – New York Times. She has captivated audiences with Pope John Paul II, Prime Minister Shri Lanka, King of Spain, President Carter and many dignitaries. Her passionate stage presence has received standing ovations within Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Represtorio Español Theater in NYC, and our very own Majestic Theater and Tobin Center. Chayito was born into a family of pioneers, that spans over four generations, of Flamenco in San Antonio. Her mother, another living icon, Teresa Champion started the Champion Flamenco Dance Studio. Her father, Curro Champion, was a popular singer and guitarist. Chayito began singing at a very early age carrying the legacy of her family all over the world.Chayito is a sought-after performer who captivates her audiences with her heartfelt and passionate performances. She has received many awards such as the H.O.L.A and A.C.E. awards in NYC. She has recorded in collaboration an album “Levanto” with Calo Flamenco and an album “Flamenco Fantasy” with the late Rubens Romero and Lydia Torrea. Her new album “Dos Mundos” will be out in the fall of 2023.
